Nidal Fakhouri is a trained computer engineer and self-taught ceramic artist. His work explores the common ground between the seemingly divergent fields of craft and technology. Function, obsolescence, science, and decay are recurrent themes in his work. Nidal holds bachelors degrees in Computer Engineering from the University of Rhode Island and Anthropology from Ithaca College. In addition to his studio practice, he occasionally works as a software developer and teaches programming and ceramics. A native of New Rochelle, NY, he lives in Providence, RI, a city known for its industrial and artistic heritage. He also really likes the ocean and its various squiggly creatures.
